Mecánica de la Peña, the origin of Lointekmex
Mecánica de la Peña, (precursor of Lointekmex), is a company of great tradition widely known in the sector, which initiated its activities in 1948 in Bilbao. Its influence was rapidly expanded and by 1962 it already had offices all along Spain.
The heavy machinery and supplied critical equipment exponentially increased their dimensions, complexity and weight, and thus, started to be sent internationally establishing an important precedent in the sector.
Because of this geographic expansion, it is of special relevance its solid path in Mexico since the 90’s. Many engineering and construction offices were opened in Mexico DF with their own manufacturing capacities, while collaborating with the main state-owned companies (CFE and PEMEX) for most of their projects. Among the most relevant, a sulfur recovery unit and a gas treatment unit in Tula, the isomerizer unit of Salina Cruz and Tula, as well as the alkylation of Salamanca. Most of the supply chain was done in Mexico by Mexican suppliers; being some of the most relevant the coal thermal power unit of Topolobampo and Piedras Negras, as well as the desalination plant for PEMEX.
See some of the project drawings created by Mecánica de la Peña in Mexico, such as an urea reactor or a desalination tower.
Lointekmex, the step to international expansion
Lointekmex, an originally Mexican company devoted to engineering and manufacturing, was created due to the rise of new productive needs in the sector of petroleum, chemic, petrochemic, energetic and renewables such as thermosolar and hydroelectric energies.
Lointekmex holds a commercial office in Mexico DF and a productive plant in Queretaro. Through these manufacturing facilities, Lointekmex obtains both a direct access to the American market and a greater operative flexibility.
